Me, watching TV
✿ I have two days of Uni left (tomorrow and next Monday) and two exams next Friday, and then this term is finally over. \o/
I have so many things I want to do, rather than studying, studying, studying.

Stuff I watched -- because obviously, I need breaks too ;)

✿ I am underwhelmed by Sherlock BBC. I just... I really did not like this season. There were a couple of great scenes but overall, just no. The cases --where there even cases?-- were boring; the villain(s) were boring; John and Sherlock's behaviour felt like character assassination, not character growth: they were either completely heartless or incredibly sappy.

Shameless US: LOVE IT! I started watching it last summer when I was still looking at tumblr occasionally and I saw some gifs that looked interesting. I had expected to watch primarily for the Ian-Mickey storyline, but I just love all of it. Right now, Debbie and Carl --and yes, Frank too-- are breaking my heart, while Veronica and Kevin make me laugh out loud. This is the series I looked forward to most these last couple of weeks.

✿ I started watching Elementary and I enjoy it a lot. I just really, really like watching clever people solving cases (I've read everything and ALL by Agatha Christie and this reminds me of it). There's personal stuff too, but not too much and I genuinely enjoy not-suuuuper-smart!Sherlock and very-smart-too!Joan. God, I love Lucy Liu.

i've been meaning to pick up elementary again. i saw the first three episodes and while the show didn't woo me yet, it's not bad and it's entertaining enough. and i really like their take on modern sherlock! it seems to work very well within our real life society (where bbc sherlock seems a lot too flashy at times to be entirely believable, so it does come across like, how shall we put it... modern au fanfic). and lucy liu ♥

my only issue with elementary is that it isn't on netflix *frets* the streams i've been able to find have been hard for me to follow because there aren't any subtitles. i'm missing out on a lot of what's being said :(

The show wasn't an instant i-love-it-so-much-i-must-marathon-it-in-two-days, but I really like it. It's so very different from the BBC version: they have a lot more time, they can concentrate on the cases, Sherlock is very much not perfect and there's an emphasis on him being a recovering addict, Joan deals with quitting surgery... it's pretty complex, yet easy to watch.
And as you said: way more realistic than Sherlock BBC.

Oh no about the subtitles. The site where I stream hasn't any subs either. :/

yeah. :D

i've been thinking about downloading it and downloading subtitles but i'm way too lazy to put in that effort. <.<

Na, I don't think I'd go to those lengths either.

i'll just stubbornly wait for it to come on netflix. <.<

Ahh, Shameless! It's so good! I've only seen season one and a bit of season two, but I love Fiona and Lip and Veronica and Kev.

I really love how Sherlock in Elementary is really honest about how he uses technology and various contacts to solve cases? Like he's not this loner genius and I love that.

Good luck with your exams!

I love all the Shameless characers. Right now, some of the plot arcs are a bit more serious than they used to be, but it works well since, Kev&Veronica and Sheila provide the funny stuff. :D

Like he's not this loner genius and I love that. Exactly. And I love how he teaches Joan and she becomes his equal. ♥

I feel the same way about Sherlock BBC. It's so nice not to be the only one who feels that way!

I've heard Elementary is great; I really mean to start watching.

The reactions to Sherlock that I've seen were pretty much 50/50. Some love it, some don't. I just wished I could be in the "love-it!" group, but well, I can't be.

Elementary is really great and enjoyable and easy to watch. ♥
