[About Sherlock]I'm not entirely sure if I like the recent Sherlock episodes or not. Sherlock is either absolutely heartless in the face of John's grief or more human than he ever was before during the Best Man's Speech. I'm confused. I love Mary though. And I thought the way they shot Sherlock chatting online with these women was brilliantly done. I have missed superbrain!Sherlock last week.

♣ I'm looking forward to the next season of Shameless next week. :)

♣ Not sure about Teen Wolf. I didn't have the urge to log into tumblr in six months, so I feel miles away from anything concerning it.

♣ A bit late but: Happy New Year to All of You! ♥
I usually avoid New Year's resolutions but this year I'm gonny try to take more photos. Of every day life: home, Uni, friends etc.
Oh. And read one book a month. Can be a short one (or none and then two the next month, but I want to start reading again). I've already finished my quota for January. ;)

I don't have any real books yet, although there are a couple on my Goodreads to-read list that I've been meaning to buy.
Hollyhollys_tree on January 6th, 2014 09:40 pm (UTC)
I only own a couple but I never know where to put them. I used to hide them, then I thought "screw it" and put them on my shelf but then a couple a friends looked at my shelves at a party -- and I know they didn't mean anything by it, but those where not people I wanted to discuss my taste in porny fic. So I put the more porny ones(like captive prince) under the bed, but still kind of felt bad about hiding them.

Women and erotica is still a very, I don't know, laughable subject, have you noticed? Men could (and do) leave girly magazines all around, even sharing with their friends, but if a girl reads/watches porn, it's somehow more shameful. You can see it in the way that so many columnists talk about 50 Shades (as if it's the porn they should feel bad about reading, and not the crap writing). I don't have an answer on where to put your books, but I wish this was one of those cultural divides that started to shift.
Hollyhollys_tree on January 6th, 2014 10:09 pm (UTC)
It is very much so. Which is why I want to put them on the shelf and be done with it, because I don't want to be embarrassed about reading porn (I would be very embarrassed about 50 Shades -- and as you say, not about the sex).

But it's also no-one's business but mine and I wouldn't want like... my mother to see it. I guess a kindle is just an easier way to handle it. :)

My M/M books are on the bookshelf in my bedroom. You didn't list that as an option. Although, I suppose it's safe to say they're "hidden away".

I'm still a student that lives and sleeps in the same room. And we have a flat share, with my room having the door to the balcony/terrace, so... lots of potential of strangers walking through my room.

I don't know. I feel like I don't want to hide them, but in the end I do anyway, because it is kind of private.

I checked lots of boxes. The Administration Series are the only books I have in print and they live on the top shelf of a bookshelf in the basement. I also have printed copies of Teahouse and Starfighter which are sandwiched between big textbooks on a bookshelf with all of my school/work books that no one else in the family would ever go near. Everything else is on my reader.

It's less the m/m thing and more the sex part that I am embarrassed about. Even though my husband is fully aware of my reading habits. I don't know. I'm a prude. *blushes and shrugs*
Hollyhollys_tree on January 6th, 2014 09:49 pm (UTC)
I have different kinds of m/m novels too. (I love the Administration Series and I always wanted to own it in print! I do own Captive Prince in print though)

Yes! Me too. I just want to avoid possible questions about my taste in erotica, which is very private. Though I'm not really up to admitting it to the boyfriend yet either.
I also own a few very... lets say m/m novels that are aimed at a younger audience, not very porny and more schmalzy but they're kind of my guilty pleasure. :)

Who's the author for the Administration Series? I didn't find anything on a goodreads search and I'm interested in reading it.
Hollyhollys_tree on January 6th, 2014 10:02 pm (UTC)
You can also find it online here. :)

Oh, thank you!

Do you think you could maybe put the Sherlock stuff under a spoiler cut? It wasn't very specific, but still more than I wanted to know, since I have to wait six more days before seeing it. I know there are plenty of places where it airs a week or two late. Thanks :-)

About the M/M books, I only own romance books in paper version. I read porn on my kindle. And both gay and het romances are on my office shelf next to my other guilty pleasure; detective stories. My non-fiction books are in there as well. All the pretty books (coffee table books, classics, myths) are in the book case in the living room. So maybe I'm a bit of a snob about what goes where, but it has nothing to do with the gay aspect and everything to do with the romance aspect.
Hollyhollys_tree on January 6th, 2014 09:59 pm (UTC)
Sorry about that, it's all done under a cut now. I didn't think.

I think, if I own my very own flat with a more private room than I have now, I'm gonna use a similar system like yours.

it has nothing to do with the gay aspect and everything to do with the romance aspect
Ah yes, I get that. I'm usually not a fan of pure romance in general, and if I read it I want it to be about two guys. :)
I don't think I'm uncomfortable about the fact that it's m/m, but more about the fact that it's either super porny or really rather cheesy. Both of which feels more like a guilty pleasure, than my 'usual' taste in books. ;)

I don't have a lot of porn in printed form. I have some tea house chapters, they're on the shelf next to my comics. And I have some books with erotic content but wouldn't say they're porn outright. But it's all on the shelves. I just don't care. I live alone and don't have visitors often and those who visit...well, if they find "my porn" that's their own fault for snooping :p

I also don't really know what to think of sherlock. I hated the first episode. The second... Idk. I feel a bit as if I just don't care. :/
Hollyhollys_tree on January 6th, 2014 11:08 pm (UTC)
I own two types of these books. Either erotic, mostly quite kinky; or cheesy. So I'm feeling like "I know it's not deep literature, but it's my guilty pleasure and I love it", but I don't want the general visitors to know that side about me. If I lived alone, that would be another subject I think. But room mates? Mmmm... no.

I've never been suuper invested in Sherlock and never into fandom or John/Sherlock, but I was looking forward to it. I think I didn't like the first one because there was not really a case, the weird opening sequence with the torture, Sherlock not apologizing etc.
The second episoded felt like, idk, turned around 180°. I didn't like all of it, but I liked parts (the case and investigation process was interesting).

i'll probably take the teahouse comics off the shelf before the christmas party with my coworkers XD

I don't own book version, but if I did, I'd keep them in my room, so I guess 'hidden away'. ^^
